Whitney Munroe has always had an interest in art. She began by coloring with crayons in coloring books. At the age of 4, she drew inside the lines and would not allow messy drawings. By the time she was 10 years old she was drawing, painting, making jewelry, and learning all about art. She entered many contests at her elementary school, winning many of them. During middle school, her passion for art increased. She learned about photography, oil painting, pastels, clay, and many other art forms. But, it wasn't until high school that her real passion emerged.

During high school, Whitney moved from Tucson, Arizona to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. When she began her junior year of high school she had no idea what she would experience. She met the local art teacher and immediately became immersed in a stained glass class. Whitney had never worked with glass before so it was a new and amazing experience. She diligently worked to cut and form glass. She learned how to use a glass cutter and a grinder. She also became versed in the different types of glass. Soon, her whole world existed around glass.

When Whitney moved back to Tucson during her senior year, she took a job at Ochoa Stained Glass. While there her experience and knowledge with glass increased. She began to commission stained glass pieces and made many different scenes for customers. She also learned how to design stained glass patterns. Her knowledge grew to encompass both of the stained glass methods: copper foil and lead. Nowadays she will make stained glass pieces for fun. But, most of her interest lies with fused glass.

Whitney soon discovered the amazing world of fused glass. She began experimenting with different glass while fusing and slumping in a kiln. After a couple of months she purchased her own kiln. She started to fuse and slump glass daily. She made many different types of plates while experimenting with the kiln. Since then, her passion for glass as grown exponentially. She continually thinks of new and unique ways of using glass. Her only constraint is time!

Whitney recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Management from the Eller College of Management. She is now working for Teach For America in Phoenix as a high school math teacher. She loves teaching and is passionate about closing the achivement gap in the United States. After teaching she is planning to expand her business and complete her life long goal of owning an art business.

This website is the beginning of Whitney's business. She hopes that it will show the world her creativity and love of art. If you have any questions or comments please contact her at
